Gamifying Stoke

Gamifying Stoke

Have you ever wondered what lies behind the crumbling facades of the old buildings along the Trent and Mersey Canal in Middleport? Well, wonder no more! A new project is underway to bring these disused structures back to life through the magic of 3D rendering. Stoke is no stranger to the games industry and is home to the University of Staffordshire which boasts the largest games department in the UK as well as gaming PC hardware giants Overclockers who now occupy the site of the former Steel Works, Shelton Bar in the heart of Etruria Valley.

What is the Project About?

The project aims to create a detailed 3D rendered model of the old buildings along the Trent and Mersey Canal in the Etruria Valley and Middleport. This will not only preserve the historical significance of these structures but also provide a virtual glimpse into their former glory.

How Will the 3D Models Help?

By creating 3D models of these old buildings, researchers and historians will be able to study and analyze the architecture, materials used, and construction techniques of the past. This will not only aid in historical preservation but also contribute to our understanding of the evolution of architecture in the region.

What Can We Expect in the Coming Months?

Over the coming months, more details about the project will be revealed. From the selection of buildings to be rendered to the technology and techniques used in the process, there is much to look forward to. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting initiative!
